Question: When and how did you come to realize you were an “influencer”?

Answer: I started off sharing daily photos of my outfits and didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t until I started getting comments and questions asking where I found my outfit and how I put pieces together that I realized I was actually an “influencer” and decided to start my blog.

Question: What platforms do you currently focus on and why?

Answer: I currently focus on Instagram and Pinterest. I am a mom and a full time career woman, on top of being a blogger & influencer, and there are simply not enough hours in the day to be on all platforms. Instagram and Pinterest are the ones I am drawn to most because they represent me and my brand. I love to share everyday affordable outfits and having the visual through those platforms I can share my OOTD photos, style tips, sales, and even gather seasonal outfit inspiration!

Question: What inspires you the most to create content?

Answer: You, my tribe! My followers inspire me to find great, quality brands that make everyday fashion easy and attainable. I love hearing what my followers want to see more of, be it how to style booties in the fall, the best nude lipsticks, or how to build a capsule wardrobe.

Question: How hard was it for you to build the audience you have today?

Answer: It is so important to me to have a truly authentic tribe. Building that is not always easy, especially if you focus only on numbers. I am so thankful to every one of my followers who trust me to share my thoughts and opinions on so many products. I try not to focus on the size of my audience but the quality and simply create content that I know my tribe wants and loves. Doing that makes it easy to build an audiences because you will attract people who simple love your content.

Question: Tell us about what being an influencer has taught you?

Answer: This is a great question because you guys, my tribe, have taught me SO much about this business and about myself. I have learned how important my voice is - I have earned the trust of my tribe and I will always value that when I am bringing them products, regardless of it is sponsored or not. Being an influencer has taught me that we all have something unique to bring to the table. It doesn’t matter your following size, where you are from, if you are a stay at home mom or a career woman - being an influencer is simply sharing what YOU love with your tribe. There is room for everyone and we can get so much further ahead when we collaborate, accepting others, vs compete.

Question: What would you have done differently starting out as an influencer?

Answer: I don’t think I would have done anything differently! I started out not knowing anything about the influencer world. I took grainy photos, I didn’t have a cohesive feed, I have no idea how to edit photos other than in Instagram itself, I didn’t know what an affiliate link meant, and I learned SO much along the way because of it all. Don’t worry about having everything perfected at the very start. It will come with time!

Question: What is something your followers don’t know about you?

Answer: After trying to make my Instagram Husband see my vision with photos, I let the idea go and started using a tripod! I take the majority of my photos by myself with a tripod and timer. It was a fun learning curve and always gets funny looks from people passing by as I set the camera and run into place!

Question: If you have one piece of advice to give to someone starting out in the industry, what would it be?

Answer: Instead of focusing on what others are doing and how you can create content like theirs, be yourself! Everyone has their own story to tell and that what makes each influencer so unique.
